Meta Debuts New Social Media Platform - Threads

Yesterday, Meta released their highly anticipated social media platform, Threads. This new application works directly with your Instagram account, allowing you to import your profile (Profile picture, bio, and links) into your new Threads profile. So far, the reception on the platform has been overwhelmingly positive with many users stating this was the “first app I opened this morning…”

There had been rumors that Meta was creating their own version of Twitter and now that it’s come to fruition, Twitter (more specifically Elon Musk) will need to respond, and not with a cage match. With all the problems Twitter has seen since Elon Musk bought the social media giant in October of 2022, it’s not looking good for social media’s favorite bird. Combine someone who doesn’t care abut people (whether on the platform or in person) with API problems, Subscription Costs, and now, a better version of their platform? Like I said on my Threads timeline, “Twitter might be sunk.”

Mark Zuckerberg’s vision for this is massive. A platform with the conversations of over a billion people, something that Zuckerberg commented on that Twitter had not been able to accomplish in it’s time since it’s founding in March of 2006. More than fifteen years ago. Zuckerberg stated that five million users had joined in the first four hours, and that twenty million joined in the first twenty-four hours. I hope that this is a transition, or even a nice, fresh palette for content creators to explore, so I don’t blame Zuckerberg on having the gumption to take on such influential entities. Twitter’s held this massive hold on this market for years, and now, like firstnamedane said…

“big buck zuck on ya head elon musty!”
