AI Music Platform Raises $20M
WAVs AI, the self-described “world’s leading AI music provider” announced they had just raised $20 million from Regal Investments, a New York based investment company. With this, Regal aims to become one of those established companies when it comes to the future of creative AI systems, even said bluntly by Regal’s CEO Roble Regal, "The music industry is on the cusp of a revolution, driven by advancements in artificial intelligence.”
Although that AI Drake/Weeknd song was pulled from all the typical platforms, WAVs AI still features the tracks, although the artist name is now changed to Draik and WKND. WAVs AI has also featured the likes of Ariana Grande (Ariana Granday), Freddie Mercury (Freddie-mercurai), Eminem (Eminaim) and countless others. A spokesperson for WAVs AI said that with Regal’s support, “we will continue to strike deals with artists and record labels, broaden our user base, and establish WAVs AI as a dominant force in the music streaming industry.”
With AI based creative companies, it’s easy to see why investment companies would want to invest in the tech of the future, but whenever the conversation of AI and intellectual property rights ACTUALLY reaches a breaking point, then it’ll be time to watch and see the precedents that are made. Taking a song off of streaming platforms is one thing, but who really controls the creative rights?
