Coming off his project Gamez with KGigs in January, Flessin2k came back with initially, a YouTube exclusive video for his song, “Seen It All,” a personal meditation on past experiences and how he’s navigated the crossroads that are inevitably thrown at you. Now, he’s released it on SoundCloud, I’m going to be upfront, this is one of my favorite songs of 2023.
Produced by River Beats, and Mixed/Mastered by frequent collaborator KGigs, Flessin2k displays incredible courage, opening up not only about the past, but also his present condition. The story of a young person, juggling his responsibilities, while keeping it together mentally. I know this story, and I know a bunch who share this story, but I know very few who are willing to talk about it with such honesty and openness. I can feel the weight lifting off when I listen to this song, but I can’t imagine what it must’ve felt like to hear the finished product as the creative team. This kind of work is essential, this kind of work is timeless, and even to the listener, it feels like therapy. Big shoutouts to River Beats and KGigs, who really use both of their collective talents to elevate this song to such a fever pitch, then allowing Fless to do his own creative soul-searching. Trust is such an important thing in this creative game.
I kept it short at the beginning because being an asshole is a small part of me. I don’t mind the asshole piece of me. It’s a part of who I am, and that’s why I like Fless so much. He’s a human, and he’s not scared to explore all the parts of his humanity through his music. You can feel the happy sides, you can feel the reflective sides, and arguably, he’s just getting better with every move. A lot of people want to get caught up in how they are seen or heard, but not a lot of people want to just be themselves.
